At a press conference dedicated to the upcoming event, the Head of Kalmykia, Batu Khasikov, announced that large-scale sporting events—the International Martial Arts Festival “Lotus Cup” and the cultural and sports festival “Dzhangariada”—will be held as part of the III International Buddhist Forum.
“The essence of the ‘Lotus Cup’ is that various martial arts schools will present demonstration performances. One of the most anticipated is by monks from the Shaolin Monastery,” - Khasikov noted.
He also emphasized that Kalmykia has much to showcase and surprise visitors with. As an example, he cited Kalmyk national wrestling, which will also be featured. The head of the region expressed confidence that everything will be “very humane, aesthetic and bright.”

In turn, “Dzhangariada” will be a true celebration of sports, offering numerous guests of the republic the opportunity to experience traditional national sports.

As a reminder, the upcoming International Buddhist Forum will take place from September 25 to 28. This large-scale event will bring together representatives from about 35 countries and over 400 participants, including around 50 members of the Buddhist clergy—teachers, spiritual leaders and temple abbots.

The forum is organized by the Government of Kalmykia, the Foundation for the Promotion of Buddhist Education and Research and the Roscongress Foundation.
