The Head of Kalmykia spoke about the III International Buddhist Forum at SPIEF-2025

As part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which took place in the Northern Capital from June 18 to 21, the session titled “Tourist Brand – A Tool for Investment Development in the Regions” was held.

The event was conducted in a dialogue format, allowing participants to exchange best practices, build cooperation and explore new solutions.

Among the speakers was the Head of Kalmykia, Batu Khasikov, who spoke about preparations for the III International Buddhist Forum, scheduled to take place this September in the steppe republic.

“The Forum, which will be held from September 25 to 28 on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, will be a major event for the people of Kalmykia. We are proud that our republic contributes to strengthening Russia's standing in the international arena, particularly in the East Asian region,” - Khasikov said confidently.

He also noted that Kalmykia expects delegations from about 35 countries to attend, including representatives of the Buddhist clergy — teachers, spiritual leaders and abbots of Buddhist temples.

The Forum, titled “The Buddhist World in the New Millennium,” will focus on discussions around the preservation of Buddhist heritage, Buddhist philosophy, and related topics.

The grand opening of the III International Buddhist Forum will take place on September 25.
