I met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nepal to Russia, Dr. Jang Bahadur Chauhan. We discussed new areas of our cooperation: Buddhist pilgrimage tourism, development of cultural exchange, trade and economic ties, and scientific cooperation. Including the possibility of studying the Russian language in Nepal to strengthen the intercultural dialogue of the countries.
The plans include holding a conference on Buddhist philosophy in Nepal with the participation of the world's most famous Buddhologists. The Ambassador invited our scientists to join the forum to exchange experiences and strengthen academic ties.
I also invited the Ambassador to give a lecture at the Kalmyk State University named after B. B. Gorodovikov. This will be an important step in deepening the cultural and scientific dialogue between our peoples and will help students better understand the philosophy and traditions of Buddhism, which play a key role in the history and culture of Nepal.
The Kalmyk branch of Buddhism is historically linked with the Nepalese tradition. And we, as a unique center of Buddhist culture in Europe, are ready to become a bridge of international cooperation between Russia and Buddhist countries, especially with Nepal - a sacred land for all followers of the Buddha's teachings. I accepted the Ambassador's invitation to visit the unique shrines of Tibetan and Nepalese Buddhism in Nepal and Bhutan.
Fulfilling the instructions of President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, related to the external development of Russia, including strengthening ties with Asian countries and the Buddhist world, I invited Mr. Jang Bahadur Chauhan to take part in the III International Buddhist Forum. I am confident that this meeting will be the beginning of a new stage of cooperation between our countries.
