Statue of Buddha Maitreya at the “Lagan Dargeling Khurul” complex
On behalf of the Head of the Republic, Batu Khasikov, Erdni Tserenov — who is responsible for the preparation and organization of the III International Buddhist Forum in Kalmykia — visited the town of Lagan.

In the town, improvements are underway in the public garden located on the grounds of the Lagan Dargyeling Khurul complex. The main feature of the park is a statue of Maitreya Buddha, which, including its pedestal, stands 12 meters tall. Notably, this is the largest statue of Maitreya Buddha in Europe.

Landscaping work in the public area is currently ongoing.

Another attraction in Lagan is the Melody of the Caspian Sea park, where a city beach is being developed on the canal bank. The beach will be equipped with essential infrastructure for comfortable and safe recreation.

In early August, the annual Lotus Festival will take place in Lagan. Each year, the event draws more and more tourists from across Russia to Kalmykia.
“Not only the capital of the republic, but also all district municipalities are actively preparing for the International Buddhist Forum. The forum will be a people's forum”, - noted Erdni Tserenov.
