Batu Khasikov and Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Discuss Preparations for the III International Buddhist Forum

In September 2025, Kalmykia will host a large-scale, world-class event – the III International Buddhist Forum.
On the previous day, the Head of Kalmykia visited the Golden Abode of Shakyamuni Buddha, where he met with Shajin Lama.

Batu Khasikov congratulated the spiritual leader on the upcoming sacred month of Yrs Sar and, on the eve of Shakyamuni Buddha's birthday, presented him with a gift: a statue of the great Teacher, whose image symbolizes the unity of Buddhist teachings.
Notably, in mid-May, the Head of Kalmykia visited Nepal — the birthplace of the great Teacher and a country where ancient monastic traditions are still preserved. It was Nepalese monks who gifted the statue of Shakyamuni Buddha to the republic as a sign of respect and friendship between their peoples.

“In cooperation with Shajin Lama, we continue to strengthen our spiritual partnership and preserve Buddhist traditions as a foundation for peace, harmony, and mutual understanding,” commented Batu Khasikov.
